new update march 19th, 2020

Good Evening BrightLight Preschool Parents!
Please bear with us as we have a few updates for you.
Today, Governor Greg Abbott announced strict statewide restrictions aimed at slowing the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19). He is issuing an executive order directing schools to close, banning gatherings of 10 or more people, and many other public venues to close.

Our doors WILL NOT close. We are here to help assist you in every way possible as we understand how this situation has impacted most people.

Although we are a preschool, we operate as a business first so we do not fall under the educational school category. We have verified this with the city, state, and Texas licensing officials.
In regards to maintaining 10 people or fewer in a room, we are accommodating this as well by not allowing more than 10 people (combined staff and children) to a room.

To help protect our children even further, we are asking parents to please take any cups that are here home with you and leave them there. We are providing cups to each child and continuing to use disposable cups, plasticware, and plates for all meals.

For those who bring in bottles, please use the plastic baggies located on the table in the lobby and label with your childs name.

We are also taking the blankets, nap mats, pillows, and lovies one step further. When you arrive with any of these items, please use one of the provided white trash bags we have on the table in the lobby and label it with your child's name. We will then take them back with your child to help prevent the amount of germs that may be passed on. We also ask that you continue to take them home on Fridays to thoroughly wash them. Please make sure to bring them back with you when you return.

We will continue our newly created process of checking in at the front desk in the lobby. During this time, we will continue using the COVID-19 screening form which includes taking the temperature of each child and staff member. Please do not use the tablets to check your child in or out. Our teachers are able to do this for you. Staff and children are the only people allowed past our double doors, down the hallways, and into each room.

We appreciate your patience and understanding through this very fluid situation. Thank you for allowing us to care for your child(ren) during this time, and please understand we are here for you! As each new mandate or recommendation comes available, we will update you as soon as possible. In the meantime, we will continue to operate as normal as conditions allow.

If you have any questions, comments, and/or concerns, please feel free to reach out to us at info@brightlightpreschool.com

Thank you!

important update

March 16, 2020

Dear Bright Light Families,

On Sunday, 3/15, Texas Health & Human Services Child Care Licensing issued new guidance and updated requirements for day care operations to assist them in protecting children in their care from COVID-19.

In order to meet these new requirements, train and prepare center staff to implement them and to conduct as deep and thorough of a disinfection cleaning throughout the entire center as possible, BLPS utilized 3/16 and 3/17 as their 2 teacher in-service days referred to on the school calendar.  Having taken this time to prepare to meet these new guidelines and requirements for providing safe and effective care, understanding the hardship on parents that any further closure may cause, and with Licensing’s authorization to continue care, BLPS has determined that WE WILL RESUME REGULAR BUSINESS HOURS BEGINNING THIS WEDNESDAY, 3/18/2020.

BrightLight remains committed to providing an outstanding education and care for your children in a safe and secure learning environment. Please know that our students and preschool families are always at the heart of our decisions and we are managing this situation with them and our entire community in mind.

Based on these new requirements which necessitated the changes below, please allow extra time in your schedule for the drop off and pick up of your children at Bright Light Preschool.

Only essential personnel and Parents/guardians will now be dropping off and picking up children OUTSIDE OF HALLWAY DOORS, near finger print/key fob device. A table will be set up next to check-in kiosk, in front of double doors to hallway as a screening and initial hand sanitization station.

Before being allowed entry into the operation, each child and staff member will be screened, including taking the temperature of each person upon arrival at the operation each day.  Entry will be denied to any person who meets any of the following criteria:

  1. A temperature of 100.4°F or above;

  2. Signs or symptoms of a respiratory infection, such as a cough, shortness of breath, sore throat, and low-grade fever;

  1. In the previous 14 days has had contact with someone with a confirmed diagnosis of COVID-19; is under investigation for COVID-19; or is ill with a respiratory illness; or

  2. In the previous 14 days has travelled internationally to countries with widespread, sustained community transmission.

Each child who is cleared through the screening process will be taken by a center staff member back to their classrooms.  PARENTS WILL NOT BE ENTERING HALLWAY to take their children to or pick their children up from class.  Staff delivering children to their classrooms will verify handoff with classroom teacher and staff will assist with handwashing upon entry into the classroom.
Diaper bags, backpacks and any other bags will no longer be allowed in the hallways or classrooms.
Changes of clothes and formula are to be kept at the center.
Ziplock bags and markers for labeling will be available at the screening table to use for clean bottles and/or other items your child may need for the day, with a new plastic bag provided each morning for infection control measures.

No outside food unless sensitivities or allergies present, this includes all snacks and meals.  Family style serving of food will not occur.

In addition to our ongoing 3-step process of sanitizing all surfaces throughout the day, there will be a bleach/water sanitization container in every classroom that toys and other contact materials will go through between each use.

Staff and all children are to wash hands diligently and stay home if they are sick or be sent home if they become sick or seem generally unwell.
We will continue to follow state guidelines as we receive them. If the state tells us we need to close down the preschool center, we will do so. Until that time, we plan to remain open. Thank you for understanding that we are doing everything we can to accommodate the children, parents, and our dedicated staff during this unexpected time.

Thank you,
BrightLight PreSchool Staff
